A fresh raid near Bidadi in Karnataka has exposed how counterfeit products can move beyond illegal manufacturing into repacking, relabeling and potential hospital supply chains.The Karnataka drug enforcement authorities seized material estimated at Rs 4.91 crore, including thousands of vials, expired medicines, counterfeit labels and packaging equipment. Reports also indicated that some seized products carried names of major pharmaceutical companies. The results also pushed Amylyx shares more than 45 percent higher during Tuesday trading. The stock reached USD 31.72 in morning trading. The jump could add about USD 1.15 billion to the company's market value. POIndia's heart-lung machine market is set for a major shift as a homegrown device gains key regulatory approvals. The heart-lung machine developed by Mediyant Technologies has received USFDA 510(k) clearance and CDSCO approval.The device is called the New Century Heart-Lung Machine. It is designed for use during open-heart surgeries. The machine supports blood circulation and oxygenation when the heart and lungs are temporarily stopped. Mediyant Technologies developed the device after years of work on indigenous cardiac care technology. The company has secured approval to manufacture and market the machine in India. POEbola cases in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have crossed 5,000, marking a new and alarming phase in the country's fastest-growing Ebola outbreak. Government data showed 5,021 confirmed cases as of August 16, along with 2,378 deaths. Health officials are warning that the response is struggling to keep pace with the rapid spread of the virus.The outbreak, which was declared on May 15, has already surpassed the 20182020 Ebola epidemic in both infections and deaths, making it the largest Ebola outbreak in the DRC's history. The current crisis is also the second-deadliest Ebola outbreak recorded globally, behind the 20142016 West Africa epidemic.
