 AI-based models

Apollo Hospitals and Siemens Healthineers are poised to redefine the diagnosis and treatment of liver disease. The two have announced a collaboration to innovate advanced clinical liver healthcare through the use of AI-enabled imaging and diagnostics.

The collaboration, which was conceived in a Master Research agreement, was announced today in Hyderabad and is a positive step toward sustainably wielding technology to combat India's increasing disease burden from liver disease.

The partnership will focus on creating AI-based models to support all aspects of liver care from early detection to disease management. The advancement of early detection and management of Metabolic Dysfunction–Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD) will be a primary focus area.

Specific estimates of MASLD prevalence are broad but it is significant, depending on associated fat tissue and insulin-resistance. The number of people affected by MASLD, including overweight individuals and people with diabetes are higher: estimates place prevalence between 9% and 32% (20+ million).

By bringing together Siemens' advanced quantitative ultrasound imaging technologies with Apollo's significant clinical capacities and clinical patient data, they will offer non-invasive, lower-cost and accessible screening and management of liver disease. The solutions will facilitate earlier detection of early-stage liver fibrosis, leading to improved patient outcomes.

The collaboration is not just the start of some exciting innovation; it is a timely response to a wider necessity for scalable liver health solutions in India. With precision diagnostics and AI assisted decision making, the collaboration is set to redefine how liver conditions are detected, tracked, and treated—positioning India at the forefront of next-generation liver care.

This partnership is expected to drive innovation, boost clinical efficiency, and shape the future of value-based liver healthcare in the country.
