AptarGroup, a worldwide leader in dosing, dispensing, and protection technologies for drugs and consumer products, has revealed the purchase of Sommaplast, a Brazil-based company that specializes in oral dosing pharmaceutical packaging solutions. Sommaplast offers a range of products including closures, droppers, dispensers, and dosing cups, catering to various oral dosing needs.Gael Touya, President of Aptar Pharma, emphasized the strategic significance of the acquisition, mentioning that Aptar has had manufacturing operations in Brazil for over 25 years. He mentioned that incorporating Sommaplast will further solidify Aptar’s presence in the area and improve its capability to cater to Brazil’s rapidly expanding markets for oral dosing, over-the-counter products, and nutraceuticals. These markets keep growing swiftly, fueled by population increase, a growing middle class, and an aging population.

Through this purchase, Aptar is expanding on its over 80-year legacy of innovation and quality. Aptar currently has manufacturing plants in Cajamar, Jundiaí, Maringá, and Camaçari, and with the inclusion of Sommaplast, it enhances its footprint in Latin America while providing additional manufacturing capabilities.
