The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has introduced a QR Code-based appointment booking for stakeholders visiting CDSCO’s headquarters located in the FDA Bhawan at New Delhi to enhance stakeholder interactions in an easier and orderly manner.
A notification issued recently, indicates that stakeholders can now make appointments electronically by scanning the QR Code on the CDSCO website and also located at the FDA Bhawan venue and this will take them to an online form, to give their personal and organization details, state the purpose of their visit, and select their preferred appointment date and time slot.
The info given by the stakeholders will be used to generate walk-in visitor passes on the day of visitation. Stakeholders will be required to bring an ID proof for verification at the entry gate. The CDSCO has indicated that the purpose of this initiative is to involve stakeholders in a streamlined process.

Along with the new system, CDSCO issued restrictive visitor guidelines and restricted visitor registration in the office. Visitors can only meet the official listed on their visitor pass. Any officials permitting access will be held accountable for violations.
This is part of wider reform moves by CDSCO to expand access and stakeholder engagement. Earlier this month, CDSCO required the pre-emptive form for the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) to undertake a walk-in meeting. The DCGI also commenced meeting with stakeholders every Tuesday and Thursday from 5-6 pm for the past month.
The regulator has also undertaken to reform their public hearing schedule to allow more focus during limited slots and push for the broader "Ease of Doing Business" agenda.
