Fujifilm India has inaugurated endoscopy manufacturing in Jodhpur, marking a significant step in expanding local production of advanced medical devices while supporting the government’s Make in India initiative. The move aims to strengthen domestic manufacturing of high-precision diagnostic equipment and improve access to advanced healthcare technology across the country.
The new endoscopy manufacturing in Jodhpur will enable the company to produce advanced endoscopy systems locally through a manufacturing partner while maintaining Fujifilm’s globally benchmarked Japanese quality standards. The initiative reflects the company’s long-term strategy to localize medical technology production and meet rising demand for diagnostic equipment in India’s healthcare sector.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several government and industry leaders. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, served as the chief guest, while Gajendra Singh Khimsar, Rajasthan’s Cabinet Minister for Medical, Health and Family Welfare, attended as the guest of honour. Senior executives including Haruto Iwata, Managing Director of Fujifilm Asia Pacific, and Koji Wada, Managing Director of Fujifilm India, were also present along with healthcare stakeholders and government representatives.

The facility will produce endoscopy systems designed for minimally invasive diagnostic procedures. These systems are equipped with LED light sources and advanced image-processing technologies that help doctors examine internal organs with greater accuracy during medical procedures.
The technology includes advanced imaging features such as Blue Light Imaging (BLI), which improves visualization of blood vessels and microscopic structures on mucosal surfaces, and Linked Color Imaging (LCI), which enhances color contrast to help physicians detect abnormalities more easily during examinations. These technologies support early disease detection and improve diagnostic outcomes for patients.
Speaking at the event, Haruto Iwata, Managing Director, FUJIFILM Asia Pacific, said, “India’s healthcare landscape is evolving rapidly, with increasing emphasis on early detection, minimally invasive diagnostics, and access to reliable healthcare technology.”
The company stated that the endoscopy manufacturing in Jodhpur represents a strategic expansion of its healthcare operations in India. The facility integrates advanced production processes and quality systems while aligning with national efforts to increase domestic production of medical devices.
Fujifilm also plans to gradually expand its “Made in India” portfolio in the future and may supply locally manufactured products to neighboring markets. This strategy positions India as a potential manufacturing and supply hub within Fujifilm’s global healthcare network.
The investment highlights the growing importance of India in the global medical technology industry. By strengthening domestic manufacturing of advanced diagnostic equipment, the initiative is expected to support healthcare infrastructure development, create skilled jobs, and improve access to modern diagnostic tools for hospitals and clinicians across the country.
Koji Wada, Managing Director, FUJIFILM India said, “This milestone is an important part of Fujifilm’s roadmap to deepen our healthcare footprint in India. It reflects our group purpose of ‘Giving our world more smiles’ by supporting India’s healthcare providers with capabilities that will strengthen diagnostic infrastructure.”
