The Navi Mumbai MediCity project has taken a major step forward with the Maharashtra government signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cleveland Clinic, Brookfield Asset Management, and Arodhan Health City.
The ambitious Navi Mumbai MediCity initiative is expected to attract global investments worth USD 1.2 billion and create around 10,000 jobs, positioning Maharashtra as a leading destination for healthcare, medical research, and innovation.
Announcing the development, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis described the agreement as a historic milestone for the state and the country. The project aims to establish a world-class healthcare ecosystem that integrates advanced patient care, medical education, research, artificial intelligence, genomics, and innovation within a single campus.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Government of Maharashtra, Cleveland Clinic, Brookfield Asset Management, and Arodhan Health City for the development of the Navi Mumbai International MediCity (NMIMC).
Sharing the announcement on social media, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the project would be the first-of-its-kind integrated healthcare, research, and innovation ecosystem in India. According to him, the initiative will serve as a transformative platform that combines healthcare excellence with cutting-edge technologies and scientific research.
The project is expected to strengthen India's healthcare infrastructure while supporting the country's growing ambitions in medical tourism and healthcare innovation.

Under the agreement, Cleveland Clinic will act as the anchor partner for the Navi Mumbai International MediCity. Its involvement is expected to significantly enhance the project's global credibility and attract international patients, researchers, and healthcare experts.
Speaking about the collaboration, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis emphasized that the initiative is much more than a conventional healthcare project.
“This is more than just a healthcare project. Together we shall create healing wonders. Spread over 250 acres, and with the Cleveland Clinic as our anchor partner, we are creating a platform that will combine world-class patient care, medical education, research, AI, genomics, and innovation at an unprecedented scale,” he said.
The partnership is expected to support India's rapidly expanding medical tourism sector by improving access to specialized and advanced healthcare services.
