 RML Hospital Launches Heatstroke Helpline

The Center-run RML Hospital has launched a heatstroke helpline, 011-23404446, for the public to report heat stroke patients in order to ensure prompt intervention amid the forecast of a sweltering summer in north India.

Dr. Ajay Shukla, the medical superintendent of the RML Hospital, stated that the helpline is for people who might be discovered unconscious or who become suddenly unwell owing to high temperatures and can receive emergency medical assistance.

To efficiently treat patients with heat-related disorders, the hospital has reopened its heat-stroke unit, which is outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment.  According to Dr. Amlendu Yadav, chief of the emergency medicine department at RML Hospital, heatstroke can occur if a person's body temperature climbs above 105 F.

In this condition, the patient's body loses its ability to regulate body temperature, which is most commonly known as sweating. Additionally, the patient's mental state is altered, meaning that they may be unconscious or experiencing a mental state that is "away from normal," according to Dr. Yadav.

If heatstroke is not treated promptly, the fatality rate might reach 80 percent. However, it can be lowered to 10 percent if the patient is treated early and receives prompt assistance, according to Dr. Shukla.
