UiPath and Google Cloud Collaborate to Transform Medical AI

Medical Record Summarization agent, powered by generative AI and launched by UiPath, a global leader in enterprise automation and AI software, at Google Cloud Next 2025, were developed by using Google Cloud vertex AI and Gemini models. Presently in private preview, this AI agent aims to support payer and provider organizations by integrating generative AI with agentic automation to simplify and accelerate the analysis of complicated medical records.

Co-developed with clinical experts, the solution summarizes the medical documents using Google’s Gemini 2.0 Flash model through Vertex AI in a very efficient and accurate way. This is part of UiPath's broader effort to provide industry-specific vertical AI solutions. Built upon the UiPath Agent Builder, the summarization agent can generate multi-point clinician-level summaries for extensive medical records in as little as a few minutes. This is a task that otherwise takes 45 minutes when done manually by medical personnel.

An AI-oriented approach streamlines healthcare activities by minimizing the labor involved, enhancing cost-effectiveness, and relieving the possibility of human error which means the tasks such as patient referral intake, order intake, and utilization management reviews can now be performed 40 minutes faster. Turnaround time for prior authorizations can potentially be cut by as much as 50%. The agent provides great consistency and accuracy in producing structured, traceable summaries so that clinicians and coordinators can order better and faster.

The medical record summarization agent from UiPath is being used by one large healthcare payer company for a processing speed improvement of 23%. It produces structured summaries with traceable citations; it includes custom approaches based on retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to deal with unstructured information; and it minimizes the administrative load on healthcare professionals. With sped-up decision-making, this powerful solution improves clinical outcomes and operational efficiency across key healthcare processes such as utilization management, referral, appeal, order intake, and clinical trial eligibility assessment.
