India Phosphate & Allied Industries: Strengthening Pharmaceutical Manufacturing with Integrated API & Excipient Solutions

As pharmaceutical companies develop increasingly complex formulations and advanced drug delivery systems, the demand for application-specific, high-quality excipients has grown significantly. This shift has elevated the role of excipient manufacturers from raw material suppliers to strategic partners that contribute directly to formulation success, regulatory compliance, and supply chain resilience.

As formulation companies expand their presence in regulated markets, they require excipient manufacturers capable of delivering consistent quality, technical support, comprehensive documentation, and uninterrupted supplies.

Within this evolving ecosystem, India Phosphate has established itself as one of India's leading pharmaceutical API & Excipient manufacturers. From a modest manufacturing facility established in Ujjain in 2007, the company has steadily expanded into a diversified enterprise serving more than 450 pharmaceutical customers across India and exporting to nearly 30 countries.

Its journey reflects a long-term manufacturing philosophy built on continuous expansion, disciplined quality systems, and the ability to evolve alongside the changing needs of the pharmaceutical industry.

From Entrepreneurial Vision to a Diversified Manufacturing Enterprise

India Phosphate's evolution is closely linked to the professional journey of its Founder, Deepak Jaisinghani, whose experience in phosphate manufacturing dates back to 1994. After completing his MBA in Marketing, he spent over two decade gaining expertise in pharmaceutical phosphate manufacturing before establishing India Phosphate in 2007.

Starting a pharmaceutical manufacturing business with limited financial resources was far from easy. The company began operations from scratch, with a small manufacturing facility in Ujjain, where every aspect of the business, from production to logistics was managed with limited infrastructure and resources.

Rather than pursuing aggressive expansion, the company adopted a disciplined approach, reinvesting earnings back into the business. As operations grew, additional adjoining land was acquired, manufacturing capacities were expanded, and new product lines were introduced.

India Phosphate's future growth strategy reflects its ambition to become one of India's most integrated pharmaceutical excipient manufacturers

“What distinguishes India Phosphate's journey is the consistency of its growth. Construction and capacity expansion have continued almost uninterrupted since the company's inception, reflecting a philosophy that views manufacturing as a continuous process of improvement rather than a series of isolated investments.

Today, this steady approach has transformed the company into a trusted supplier for leading pharmaceutical companies, with exports spanning nearly 30 countries and regulatory filings supporting multiple global markets”, speaks Deepak Jaisinghani, Managing Director.

Building an Integrated Portfolio

India Phosphate's strategy has extended well beyond increasing production capacity. The company has consistently broadened its product portfolio to address the evolving needs of pharmaceutical manufacturers.

Beginning with pharmaceutical-grade phosphates, the company subsequently expanded into citrates, chlorides, ferrous, sulphates, and silver sulphadiazine among other chemicals, establishing itself among India's leading manufacturers in several specialised categories.

Its portfolio today supports a wide range of pharmaceutical dosage forms, including tablets, injectables, suspensions, liquids, and powder formulations.

The company's strength lies in its ability to provide customised excipient solutions rather than standard commodity products. It manufactures specialised grades for direct compression tablets, injectable applications supported by in-house bacterial endotoxin testing, and suspension formulations tailored to specific customer requirements.

This comprehensive offering enables pharmaceutical companies to source multiple excipient families from a single, technically capable partner.

Supporting these capabilities is a well-developed quality infrastructure comprising advanced chemical and microbiological laboratories, enabling rigorous testing and regulatory compliance. Combined with WHO-GMP certification and Drug Master Files for multiple products, these capabilities have strengthened the company's position as a reliable partner for both domestic and international pharmaceutical manufacturers.

Quality, Technology and Trust

Operating from Ujjain, away from India's established pharmaceutical manufacturing clusters, has required India Phosphate to develop operational strengths that go beyond conventional manufacturing capabilities. To ensure uninterrupted supplies, the company maintains substantial inventories of both raw materials and finished products.

This inventory strategy has enabled it to continue servicing customers even during periods of global supply chain disruption, reinforcing long-term customer confidence.

Technology has been another major area of investment. Producing nearly 30 tonnes of pharmaceutical powders every day requires stringent process controls and uncompromising quality standards.

Recognising the importance of product purity, India Phosphate became the first company in India to install in-house Sortex technology to eliminate black particle contamination, an investment that illustrates its proactive approach towards quality improvement.

The company reinforces this commitment by reinvesting approximately ten percent of its annual revenues into technology upgrades, manufacturing equipment, laboratory infrastructure, process optimisation, and facility enhancement. Rather than viewing quality as a regulatory obligation, India Phosphate considers it a continuous investment that strengthens customer relationships and long-term competitiveness.

Equally important is its culture of learning. Customer audits conducted by leading pharmaceutical companies are viewed as opportunities for improvement rather than compliance exercises. Feedback received during these audits is incorporated into manufacturing systems, documentation practices, and operational processes, enabling continuous refinement across the organisation.

Preparing for the Next Phase

India Phosphate's future growth strategy reflects its ambition to become one of India's most integrated pharmaceutical excipient manufacturers. Two new manufacturing facilities currently under development are expected to significantly expand the company's production capabilities while supporting entry into new product categories.

The company is preparing to manufacture lactates, gluconates, and lactose, further diversifying its API & excipient portfolio and reducing dependence on imported specialty materials. Simultaneously, it is entering the medical devices segment through patented innovations developed in collaboration with healthcare professionals and engineering experts, demonstrating its willingness to extend its capabilities beyond conventional excipient manufacturing.

By combining manufacturing discipline, continuous technological investment, diversified product development, and an unwavering commitment to quality, the company has steadily strengthened its position within India's pharmaceutical ecosystem.

As the industry's expectations continue to evolve, India Phosphate is well positioned to contribute to the next phase of pharmaceutical manufacturing through integrated solutions that combine technical expertise with dependable execution.
