Glenmark has expanded its presence in the US pharmaceutical market with the launch of its Fast-Acting Schizophrenia Injection, a generic version of Olanzapine for Injection, 10 mg/vial.
The Fast-Acting Schizophrenia Injection is designed to quickly manage acute agitation in adults with schizophrenia and bipolar I disorder. The launch strengthens Glenmark's injectable portfolio in the US and offers healthcare providers a more affordable treatment option for patients experiencing severe mental health episodes.
The newly launched product is the generic equivalent of Zyprexa IntraMuscular (Olanzapine for Injection), developed by Eli Lilly. It has received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) after being found bioequivalent and therapeutically equivalent to the branded medicine, allowing it to be prescribed as a substitute where appropriate.
"The launch of Olanzapine for Injection underscores our strategic focus on growing a robust injectables portfolio and strengthening our presence within the institutional channel," Glenmark President & Business Head, North America, Marc Kikuchi said.
The Olanzapine Injection is mainly used in hospitals and emergency care settings to control sudden episodes of agitation linked to schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. During these episodes, patients may become highly restless, aggressive, or unable to stay calm, making immediate medical treatment necessary.
Unlike oral medicines that may take longer to work or may not be suitable for agitated patients, the injectable form is intended for rapid treatment under the supervision of healthcare professionals.
Some of the key benefits of the Fast-Acting Schizophrenia Injection include:
The medicine is not intended for long-term maintenance treatment and should only be administered by trained medical professionals in appropriate healthcare settings.

With this launch, Glenmark continues to strengthen its position in the US generics market. The company has been steadily introducing complex and specialty generic medicines across different therapeutic segments to expand its product portfolio.
According to IQVIA sales data for the 12 months ending May 2026, the reference product recorded annual sales of around USD 25.4 million in the US market. This presents a business opportunity for Glenmark as demand for cost-effective generic medicines continues to grow.
The company said the launch reflects its continued focus on providing high-quality and affordable medicines while expanding access to important treatments for patients across the United States.
The latest launch is significant for both patients and Glenmark.
As healthcare systems continue to focus on reducing treatment costs without compromising quality, generic injectable medicines are expected to play an increasingly important role in patient care.
