In response to the ongoing ‘Nasha Mukti Bharat Abhiyan’ and under the clear directives of FDA Commissioner Manoj Kumar, the drug control administration (DCA) in Haryana conducted a significant and coordinated inspection operation in Sirsa district on November 3. This initiative specifically focused on chemist shops involved in the illegal sale of intoxicants, which include narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances (NDPS) as well as dual-use drugs.

The concentrated enforcement action led to the immediate sealing of 16 pharmaceutical  shops that were found to be in violation of regulations, representing a notable achievement in the state's battle against pharmaceutical misuse.

The extensive operation mobilized a considerable regulatory force, comprising 35 Senior Drugs Control Officers (SDCOs) along with Drugs Control Officers (DCOs) who gathered in Sirsa from various zones and districts.

Eight specialized teams were formed to conduct surprise inspections across key locations such as Kalanwali, Baragudha, Dabwali, Rania, Ellenabad, and Local Sirsa.

The raids, which took place from 11:30 AM to 6:00 PM, were closely overseen and monitored by Lalit Kumar Goel, the State Drugs Controller for Haryana, in collaboration with Assistant State Drugs Controllers (ASDCs) Parjinder Singh, Karan Singh Godara, and Rakesh Dahiya from the DCA Headquarters. This recent raid in Sirsa is part of a more aggressive and systematic regulatory strategy adopted by the Haryana DCA.

Just weeks earlier, in September, the state played a crucial role in enhancing regional enforcement when SDC Lalit Kumar Goel successfully proposed the establishment of an interstate coordination committee among drug controllers from five northern states, including Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Punjab.

This inter-state body was specifically created to promote intelligence sharing and joint operations essential for dismantling cross-border networks involved in the distribution of counterfeit and psychotropic drugs.
