Building on recent efforts to enhance healthcare and pharmaceutical cooperation, India and Uzbekistan are eager to explore new areas of collaboration following a virtual session. The session was attended by members of the Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil), the Embassy of Uzbekistan in India, and the Pharmaceutical Development Agency of Uzbekistan.

The conference was centered around tapping into the untapped potential of collaboration between the Indian and Uzbek pharmaceutical industries. Talks were revolving around increasing the bilateral trade, drawing Indian investment towards Uzbekistan's healthcare sector, and increasing drug availability. Geographical positioning and increasing medical needs of Uzbekistan provide a good platform for Indian pharmaceutical companies looking to expand regionally.

Uzbek government representatives explained the efforts at this point were intended to modernize the pharmaceutical infrastructure in the country and identify opportunities for Indian involvement in this process. To further augment engagement, the Uzbek side formally extended an invitation to Pharmexcil and members to attend future business and investment conferences in Tashkent. These forums are likely to spur B2B partnerships and investigate joint ventures.

Pharmexcil also caused regulatory worries, such as product registration in Uzbekistan. As a response, Uzbek officials stated that they would streamline regulation procedures and offer clearer guidelines for Indian firms to penetrate the market.

Both nations saw the scope of iPHEX 2025, India's major pharma and healthcare exhibition, as an important arena for joint innovation and industry connection. Joint participation by Uzbekistan will ensure collaborative production and know-how transfer.

With India being one of the biggest exporters of cheap medicines to Uzbekistan, such as antibiotics and Hepatitis medicines, the collaboration can emerge as the foundation of bilateral ties, which can propel each other's economic development and health outcomes.
