Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has rolled out an ambitious proposal to make Telangana the foremost state in India as a health tourism State.
In his remarks during the launch of a new 300-bed multispecialty AIG Hospital in Banjara Hills Hyderabad, CM Reddy remarked on working in integrating health tourism as part of the broader Telangana Rising 2047 policy and initiatives regarding the state’s investments in infrastructure and policy direction.
With Rs 11,500 crore invested in health and Rs 21,500 crore in education, Telangana is developing the public health infrastructure. Additionally, the state describes investment in free treatment up to Rs 10 lakh per person for underprivileged citizens, plus health profiles for eligible women in self-help groups, which enables preventive health care.
The initiative will involve new and improved health institutions with 200 bed facilities at NIMS and TIMS hospitals, a 1,000-bed hospitals in LB Nagar and Sanathnagar, and the Osmania General Hospital project with the total number of beds across Telangana would represent nearly 7,000 beds of public hospital capacity.
