Jharkhand’s Health Minister Irfan Ansari on Wednesday announced the Jharkhand health cottages plan, a major step to boost rural healthcare by setting up health cottages in every panchayat.
The health cottages plan is designed to bring basic medical services closer to villages and cut down the need for long travel for treatment.
The proposed health cottages will work as small, accessible care centers offering primary treatment in a cleaner and more patient-friendly setting.
The move focuses on improving first-level care in rural areas, where access to doctors and facilities remains limited. By placing healthcare within reach, the government aims to ensure faster diagnosis and timely treatment.

Speaking about the plan, Irfan Ansari said, "We will establish health cottages in every panchayat to ensure people get treatment near their homes." The initiative is part of a broader push to improve healthcare delivery across the state, especially at the grassroots level.
Alongside this, the government is expanding access to affordable medicines through Abua Medical Stores and strengthening telemedicine services to support remote consultations. Steps are also being taken to improve monitoring systems to ensure accountability in public healthcare.
The Jharkhand health cottages plan is expected to reduce pressure on larger hospitals while improving healthcare access across rural regions. The focus remains on building a more accessible and efficient system that serves people at the local level.
