Merck a global leader in science and technology is partnered with company builder mantro GmbH (Munich, Germany) to accelerate the establishment of EdiMembre, a Deep-Tech spin-out from Massachusetts, U.S.A., that is poised to disrupt the alternative protein sector.

Building on Merck's Deep-Tech foundation, EdiMembre expands the uses of the edible membrane technology platform, which has been developed in recent years and is essential for the development of complex tissue structures needed for the scalable production of structured cultured meat. At the same time, the platform technology has been used to investigate high-protein, plant-based pasta applications. EdiMembre is armed with a strong patent portfolio, great people, and good business partnerships to bring its sustainable alternative protein solutions to market quickly.
