In a significant step toward strengthening India’s pharmaceutical and trade export ecosystem, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has announced the launch of the ‘Source from India’ feature on the Trade Connect ePlatform across India to all Status Holder exporters.
As a first step, the ‘Source from India’ feature was first launched on a pilot basis for Three-, Four-, and Five-star Manufacturer exporters, and has now been rolled out to all exporters that have a valid Import Export Code (IEC), and are not on the Denied Entity List (DEL).

‘Source from India’ provides an integrated digital interface for global buyers to find and connect with certified Indian exporters. Exporters can build personalized micropages for their products and catalogues, which are made visible publicly from time to time on approval. The feature is endorsed by core stakeholders, including Indian Missions Abroad, Pharmexcil, EXIM Bank, and the Department of Commerce.
Indian Missions have been instructed to utilize the platform as a first point of engagement to answer any sourcing requirements from abroad. The objective is to increase the international profile of some key growth sectors, by addressing sourcing needs of international buyers, particularly in the pharmaceuticals space, to complement India's vision to be the "Pharmacy of the World". With simplified onboarding via DGFT credentials and enhanced visibility, the initiative aligns with India’s strategy to promote trusted trade partnerships and strengthen global health resilience.
