In order to emphasize the vital significance of fair access to contraceptive and reproductive health services across the Asia Pacific area, Organon, a worldwide healthcare organization dedicated to women's health, is working with regional partners.

Celebrating the theme of "Empower Women to Take Control" on World Contraception Day, Organon encourages women throughout Asia Pacific to take charge of their reproductive health as part of a campaign intended to empower women's ability to make informed choices to create healthier futures for women and communities.

On September 26, World Contraception Day, people are reminded of the value of having access to contraception so they can make educated decisions regarding their reproductive health. It acts as a reminder that in order to lower the number of unwanted pregnancies globally, it is still necessary to remove obstacles to accessing contraception and to advance education.

While important improvements have been made, there are still serious issues with reproductive health access in the region. The Guttmacher Institute reports that there are 132 million women in Asia who want to avoid pregnancy but are not using modern contraception. That 51% of young people ages 15-19 have an unmet need is disturbing compared to 21% of all women ages 15-49.

Unwanted pregnancies put additional strain on families, communities, and healthcare systems while also interfering with schooling, limiting employment options, and raising health risks for women.
