Alembic Pharma’s Q2 surge signals a changing growth engine, with stronger US formulations, improving domestic branded sales and API expansion supporting its financial performance.
The pharmaceutical company reported an 81% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 335 crore for Q2 FY27, while revenue from operations climbed 36% to Rs 2,603 crore.
EBITDA reached Rs 578 crore, with an operating margin of 22%. The US formulations business emerged as the biggest contributor, recording 77% growth to Rs 1,003 crore.
Meanwhile, Indian branded therapies and API operations strengthened the revenue base. Together, these performances reveal how Alembic increasingly draws growth from multiple businesses.
The US formulations business delivered Alembic's strongest quarterly growth, with revenue rising 77% to Rs 1,003 crore. Strong volume growth and three product launches supported the performance, while favourable currency movements also contributed to US sales growth. Managing director Pranav Amin expressed confidence in the traction across the company's existing US branded portfolio.
The US market now represents a significant growth contributor, helping Alembic strengthen its international revenue profile. Its performance also highlights the company's efforts to build differentiated opportunities beyond conventional generics.

Alembic's India branded business grew 14% year-on-year to Rs 725 crore, reflecting stronger performance across several therapeutic segments.
The improvement in chronic therapies carries particular significance for Alembic. Amin highlighted stronger chronic therapy momentum as an important factor in improving the quality of Indian branded medication growth. This progress supports the company's domestic business beyond its international expansion.
Alembic's API and ex-US businesses added further momentum, reinforcing the company's broad-based growth performance. API revenue increased 39% year-on-year to Rs 436 crore, while ex-US formulations revenue grew 12% to Rs 440 crore.
These segments complement the company's US and India businesses by expanding its revenue contribution across different markets and pharmaceutical operations. The API business also reinforces Alembic's manufacturing capabilities, while ex-US formulations provide additional international growth opportunities.
The performance across these businesses suggests that Alembic's growth increasingly depends on contributions from multiple segments rather than a single market. This broader revenue mix also supports the company's ability to sustain growth across different business cycles.
Alembic's profitability strengthened alongside revenue growth, with EBITDA increasing 78% year-on-year to Rs 578 crore. The company reported an operating margin of approximately 22% during Q2 FY27.
The earnings performance demonstrates how stronger contributions across US formulations, India branded therapies, API and ex-US operations translated into improved financial results. Alembic Pharma’s Q2 surge therefore reflects more than sales expansion. It highlights a changing growth engine that combines international momentum, domestic branded strength and manufacturing capabilities to support earnings.
