The Rajasthan Government has started the revival of Rajasthan Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Limited (RDPL), a Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) in the state. RDPL is owned by the Central Government, which owns 51 percent, and the Rajasthan Government, which owns the remaining 49 percent. The revival of the unit was announced earlier in the state budget.

In the wake of revamping, the Department of Medical and Health has endeavored to review the status of RDPL. Recently, Neha Giri, Managing Director of Rajasthan Medical Services Corporation Limited (RMSCL), inspected the RDPL campus. She was joined by RDPL’s Special Officer and other corporation officials.

Giri toured some parts of the facility, such as the production floor, quality control sections, warehouses, the main building, and the campus. Officials told her that RDPL is located in an industrial park and occupies about 10 acres of land.

She inspected the equipment and machinery installed at the premises to assess their condition. The MD instructed the officials to provide a report on building details, equipment, liabilities, and court cases pending. She also asked them to draw up a report on a fire outbreak that took place within the facility in 2016.

Along with this, Giri inspected the provision of water and power supply, biomedical waste management, and the condition of storage facilities. Her visit is an important milestone in the government drive to restart RDPL and increase Pharmaceutical production in the state.
