In connection with the International Institute of Health Management with Research International Delhi and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, UNICEF has developed a digital course that healthcare professionals can undertake to lead digital transformation in the healthcare of India.

This course, organized to span ten weeks, addresses a diverse group of participants: doctors, nurses, pharmacists, healthcare administrators, officials, IT experts, and people in healthcare technology implementation.

The course fulfills the growing need for digital health education and fills this achievable gap, ranging from social workers to general employees. At the helm of this course is the 'Digital Health Enterprise Planning Course,' which kicks off on April 17 to empower health professionals with the requisite digital skills for better positioning the health sector in the digital age.

Cynthia McCaffrey, the UNICEF India Representative, highlights the importance of this course and how it can help in unprecedented digital innovation in healthcare. "Projecting the fact that the digital health course launched in India by IIHMR, IIT Mumbai, and UNICEF today is based on the country's openness to develop and integrate digital technologies for the healthcare system as an emerging tool, the Minister said: "The emerging digital technologies aimed at enhancing the quality of healthcare programs by healthcare professionals are provided to be equipped with digital skills, and the healthcare system is promoted to employ digital technologies.

IIHMR New Delhi's Director, Professor Sutapa B Neogi, has mentioned that a digital training course is key in bridging potential gaps in the skill set of healthcare providers and their ability to cope with the transition into the digital era. "Adjunct to that, the provision of adequate skills and knowledge will be a core goal of this course, which will, without a doubt, strengthen the capacity of healthcare professionals to adjust to the digital era and enhance performances of healthcare delivery systems in India, narrowing the gap between urban and rural areas, especially in the underserved areas," she said.

The multidimensional curriculum, prepared by collaborating with renowned professionals from the International Institute of Health Management Research (New Delhi) and IIT Mumbai, the main technical consultant is UNICEF India, was developed in the scope of works covering digital health interventions and telemedicine, health informatics, cybersecurity and many more.

Dr. Santosh Noronha, the director of IIT Mumbai, has acknowledged that a robust health informatics system in India needs a team of working individuals from various sectors.
