Zydus Lifesciences has expanded its presence in France healthcare market with a €700,000 acquisition of FBC Medical, a move that strengthens its position in the medical equipment distribution sector. The deal marks another step in the company’s international expansion strategy, helping Zydus deepen its reach in Europe while building a stronger foothold in healthcare technology and distribution.
The acquisition was completed through one of Zydus Lifesciences’ subsidiaries, giving the company full ownership of FBC Medical, a France-based distributor of medical equipment and healthcare products. By adding an established local distributor to its portfolio, Zydus aims to improve access to hospitals, clinics, and healthcare providers across the French market.
France is considered one of Europe’s most advanced healthcare markets, supported by strong public healthcare systems, modern hospitals, and increasing demand for medical devices. Through this acquisition, Zydus is expected to strengthen its healthcare distribution network and better position its healthcare offerings within the region.
Industry observers note that global healthcare companies are increasingly pursuing smaller, targeted acquisitions to secure local market access and expand distribution networks. For Zydus, acquiring FBC Medical provides an opportunity to establish stronger relationships with healthcare institutions while increasing operational presence in a key European country.

Zydus Lifesciences has steadily expanded beyond its traditional pharmaceutical business in recent years. The company has diversified into areas such as vaccines, diagnostics, wellness products, and healthcare technology solutions. This broader approach reflects a shift toward becoming a more integrated healthcare provider rather than focusing only on medicines.
The global medical equipment market continues to grow due to aging populations, improved healthcare access, and rising demand for advanced diagnostics and treatment technologies. Companies with strong regional distribution networks are increasingly seen as better positioned to respond to changing healthcare needs.
With the addition of FBC Medical, Zydus strengthens its ability to serve the European healthcare sector while supporting long-term business diversification. The acquisition also highlights the growing trend of Indian pharmaceutical companies investing overseas to expand their global reach and create stronger market connections.
