In recent years, the field of teleradiology has emerged as a transformative force in India's healthcare landscape, particularly in regions where access to skilled radiologists is limited. Teleradiology not only bridges the gap between urban and rural healthcare but also ensures timely medical intervention, drastically improving patient outcomes. Divine Scan, a pioneering name in Gujarat's radiology sector, stands at the forefront of this revolution, leveraging advanced technology to deliver crucial MRI and CT scan services where they are most needed.

“Teleradiology has allowed us to provide immediate and accurate diagnoses, no matter how remote the location. It’s a step forward in ensuring equitable healthcare for all”, says Dr. Jalpan Rupapara M.D. (Radio-Diagnosis), founder of the company.

The challenges faced by healthcare providers in remote areas of Gujarat illustrate the vital role of teleradiology. Many talukas and districts lacked MRI facilities due to the scarcity of radiologists willing to work outside major cities. This gap resulted in patients enduring significant hardships, often traveling long distances for urgent medical scans. However, Divine Scan's innovative approach has effectively addressed these challenges by deploying teleradiology solutions. Now, radiologists can remotely interpret scans and provide diagnosis swiftly, significantly reducing the burden on patients and improving healthcare accessibility.

We are among the fastest MRI service providers in the country, offering quick turnaround times (TAT) at all our centers, regardless of the time of day or whether it's a holiday

Overcoming Technological Hurdles

Initially, Divine Scan encountered obstacles such as the lack of robust software for efficient teleradiology solutions. However, recent advancements have bolstered the company’s capabilities, enabling rapid and accurate diagnostic services across their network of 10 MRI and CT scan centers in Gujarat. Moreover, the availability of high speed internet, including the advent of 5G connectivity, has ensured uninterrupted service delivery even in remote areas where traditional wired connections may falter. “With the advent of advanced software and 5G connectivity, we can now offer round-the-clock services throughout the year, ensuring that no patient is left unattended”, Dr. Jalpan explains.

What sets Divine Scan apart is not just their technological prowess but also their operational excellence and commitment to quality healthcare. Unlike conventional setups, the company operates as a cohesive team of five highly qualified radiologists across all centers. This collaborative approach ensures continuous service provision, irrespective of individual absences or emergencies, thereby maintaining seamless patient care.

“We are among the fastest MRI service providers in the country, offering quick turnaround times (TAT) at all our centers, regardless of the time of day or whether it's a holiday”, remarks Dr. Jalpan. “Patients receive their reports promptly after completing the scan, saving their valuable time, which is especially beneficial for patients who require urgent treatment based on their MRI results.”

Excellence in Patient Care

Divine Scan maintains stringent standards in management and patient interaction, ensuring that every touchpoint, from reception to radiology reporting, meets the highest benchmarks of professionalism and technical competence. The company’s centers in remote areas are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities comparable to those in major cities like Ahmedabad and Surat, ensuring patients receive not just diagnoses but also a comforting healthcare experience. “Our commitment to patient satisfaction and high standards in every aspect of our service is what makes us stand out”, Dr. Jalpan highlights.

In its pursuit of excellence, Divine Scan continues to innovate through research and development, addressing challenges such as enhancing radiologist recruitment and optimizing patient reporting processes. Efforts to transition from traditional film-based imaging to digital solutions demonstrate the company’s commitment to efficiency and environmental sustainability, reducing both patient burden and ecological impact.

“As soon as an MRI scan is completed at our center, the images are promptly sent to the concerned doctor via email and WhatsApp”, explains Dr. Jalpan. “Since the large size of MRI images poses a challenge at times, we are also currently developing an innovative software solution that enables doctors to view and adjust the MRI images directly on their screens. This approach not only streamlines the process but also significantly reduces hard copy usage, benefiting both patients and the environment."

Transitioning to Three Tesla MRI Machines

Divine Scan is constantly looking for ways to improve and innovate, ensuring its patients get the best possible care with the least inconvenience. This patient-centric approach has led to the company’s rapid growth and strategic expansion since inception. “Starting with a bold investment in MRI technology, we now boast nine 1.5 Tesla MRI machines, which is probably the largest number of MRI machines owned by a single radiologist in India”, remarks Dr. Jalpan.

Looking beyond 1.5 Tesla machines, Divine Scan plans to introduce 3 Tesla MRI machines, further solidifying its position as a leader in advanced radiology services not only in Gujarat but potentially across India. As the company continues to expand its footprint and technological capabilities, its vision extends beyond geographical boundaries. “We aim to democratize access to cutting-edge diagnostic services, envisioning a future where high-quality healthcare is accessible to all, regardless of location or economic status”, adds Dr. Jalpan. The company’s ambitious long-term plans to penetrate major metropolitan markets underscore the commitment to advancing healthcare delivery in India.

Divine Scan exemplifies innovation, excellence, and compassion in the realm of teleradiology. Through its pioneering spirit and unwavering dedication, the company is reshaping India’s healthcare landscape, one scan at a time, and paving the way for a healthier, more accessible future for all.
