India has built one of the world's largest pharmaceutical manufacturing ecosystems, yet a significant portion of its approved manufacturing capacity remains underutilized. At the same time, global pharmaceutical and specialty chemical companies are seeking reliable partners to diversify supply chains, strengthen resilience, and accelerate sourcing. Covenants PharmaChem was created to bridge this gap.

The global pharmaceutical supply chain is undergoing a structural transformation. While cost competitiveness remains important, companies now prioritize supply security, technical capability, regulatory compliance, sustainability, and speed of execution. As supply chains diversify and India's CDMO industry continues to grow, the need for trusted manufacturing partners has never been greater.

Covenants PharmaChem connects global pharmaceutical and specialty chemical companies with qualified Indian manufacturers through a carefully curated network of more than 145 manufacturing partners. By matching customer requirements with the right manufacturing capabilities, the company unlocks India's underutilized manufacturing capacity while delivering reliable, scalable, and cost-effective sourcing and contract manufacturing solutions.

Bridging a Critical Market Gap

Founded by Alpesh Mehta and Vivek Bodade, and strengthened by Devesh Desai, Director of Business Development, Covenants PharmaChem brings together more than seven decades of combined experience across pharmaceutical manufacturing, procurement, strategic sourcing, contract manufacturing, supply chain management, cost optimization, and Sustainability/ESG initiatives. Having held leadership positions across leading pharmaceutical and chemical organizations, this team has built Covenants to unlock India's manufacturing capabilities, scientific talent, and technical expertise for global customers.

The company serves as a strategic integration partner, connecting customers with qualified manufacturing, research, and supply chain capabilities while helping Indian manufacturers maximize capacity utilization and access new business opportunities. Beyond sourcing and contract manufacturing, Covenants also supports customers' sustainability and ESG goals by working with their manufacturers to reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, thereby contributing to lower Scope 3 value-chain emissions.

Today, Covenants PharmaChem works with over 145 qualified manufacturing partners across India. Every partner is evaluated for technical capability, regulatory compliance, quality systems, delivery performance, promoter credibility, reliability, and prior professional experience, enabling the company to deliver dependable manufacturing solutions worldwide.

A Capability-Driven Network

At the core of Covenants PharmaChem's operating model is Capillia, its proprietary capability intelligence platform that maps manufacturing capacities, chemistry expertise, infrastructure, regulatory accreditations, and technical capabilities across its partner ecosystem. By intelligently matching customer requirements with qualified manufac turers, Capillia significantly reduces sourcing timelines and provides visibility into India's fragmented manufacturing landscape.

Whether customers require GMP-compliant manufacturing, USFDA-aligned facilities, CEP-supported production, non-GMP manufacturing, contract research, contract development, or commercial-scale production, Covenants evaluates chemistry expertise, infrastructure, regulatory status, production scale, geography, quantity, and delivery expectations to identify the most suitable manufacturing partner.

"Capillia enables us to connect the right opportunity with the right manufacturing capability. Through this model, Covenants PharmaChem delivers contract manufacturing, contract research, and contract development solutions while helping our network partners maximize capacity utilization by serving as their extended business development arm”, says Vivek Bodade, Co-Founder.

Trust, Execution, and Resilience

Success in a highly regulated industry depends on trust. Customers expect assurance on quality, compliance, delivery, and execution, while manufacturing partners seek meaningful business opportunities. The founders' extensive experience across manufacturing, sourcing, procurement, and supply chain management has helped establish this credibility, reinforced by consistent project execution.

One example involved a leading pharmaceutical company seeking a manufacturer for a complex 11-stage chemistry compound. After months of unsuccessful efforts, Covenants identified the right manufacturing partner within its network, enabling successful development and delivery within the committed timeline.

This reflects the company's broader mission of unlocking India's underutilized manufacturing capacity while strengthening supply chain resilience, improving capacity utilization, optimizing sourcing costs, and supporting the global growth of Make in India pharmaceutical and specialty chemical products.

Supporting Make in India and Supply Chain De-Risking

Covenants PharmaChem actively supports India's vision of strengthening domestic manufacturing, reducing import dependency, and empowering MSMEs.

In one notable project, the company identified an opportunity to replace imports of a product sourced exclusively from Europe and China. Covenants located a qualified Indian manufacturer with the required alkoxide chemistry and distillation capabilities, supported product development, and enabled successful commercial-scale production in Maharashtra. The product is now manufactured domestically, reducing import dependence.

"Our vision is to help pharmaceutical companies’ de-risk their supply chains by building reliable domestic manufacturing capabilities. By aligning customers with qualified Indian manufacturers and supporting product development, we are strengthening India's manufacturing ecosystem while creating more resilient and self-reliant supply chains”, says Alpesh Mehta, Co-Founder.

Beyond customer projects, Covenants actively promotes the products and technical strengths of its manufacturing partners to global pharmaceutical and specialty chemical companies, helping them improve capacity utilization and expand their customer base.

"We see ourselves not just as a sourcing partner, but as a growth partner for our network manufacturers. By showcasing their capabilities globally, we help maximize capacity utilization while giving customers access to a wider pool of qualified manufacturing expertise”, says Devesh Desai, Director of Business Development.

Building for Long-Term Industry Impact

Covenants PharmaChem aims to become the preferred gateway to India's pharmaceutical and specialty chemical manufacturing ecosystem, enabling global customers to access qualified manufacturing, research, and technical capabilities through a single trusted partner.

The company continues to expand its network while strengthening its capabilities in contract manufacturing, strategic sourcing, supply chain solutions, and Capillia. Guided by execution, trust, and customer satisfaction, Covenants is committed to creating long-term value for customers and partners. By connecting global opportunities with India's manufacturing strengths, the company is helping strengthen India's position as a trusted global manufacturing hub.
