As a direct manufacturer, Dhanya sees the ability to provide customers with both competitive economics and direct access to technical expertise as an important advantage

As livestock and poultry producers pursue better productivity, animal health and feed efficiency, feed supplements are becoming an increasingly important part of modern farm management. The opportunity for manufacturers lies not merely in supplying products, but in developing formulations that combine nutritional effectiveness with consistency, quality control and dependable technical support.
At the same time, strengthening domestic manufacturing can reduce dependence on imported products while giving customers greater access to manufacturers and their technical capabilities.
Dhanya Bio Life Sciences is positioning itself within this space as a Hyderabad-based manufacturer and exporter of feed supplements and probiotic and prebiotic solutions for poultry, cattle and aqua applications. Established in 2015, the company combines scientific formulation, fermentation capabilities, laboratory infrastructure, manufacturing scale and field-oriented product development.
Its operations are supported by quality systems, including ISO 9001:2015, GMP, FDA Compliance and FAMI-QS, reflecting its emphasis on consistency and compliance. The company today is also moving from predominantly bulk manufacturing towards building a stronger direct market presence.
Driving this journey is Seelam Madhu Babu, whose foundation in science and prior experience with MNCs shaped his approach to manufacturing and R&D. A postgraduate in science who is currently pursuing his PhD, he established the company after gaining industry experience, alongside his wife, Dr. Asha Latha, who has completed her PhD and plays an integral role in the company’s Technical & R&D functions. Together, their scientific backgrounds underpin Dhanya Bio Life Sciences’ emphasis on research-led product development and manufacturing.

Building an Indian Manufacturing Alternative
Dhanya Bio Life Sciences began on a relatively modest scale, operating largely as a bulk manufacturer. For much of its first decade, the company depended on a limited number of market partners rather than developing its own direct presence. While this model enabled it to strengthen manufacturing capabilities, it also meant the Dhanya name remained largely behind the scenes.
“The company is now changing that approach. Having built its production infrastructure, technical team and laboratory capabilities, it is increasingly reaching customers directly and positioning itself as an Indian manufacturing alternative to imported feed-supplement products,” speaks Seelam Madhu Babu, Managing Director.
Its portfolio spans feed supplements, probiotics and prebiotics, with feed supplements accounting for approximately 90 percent of its current manufacturing portfolio. Growth promoters and disease-control products form an important part of this business, while probiotics, prebiotics and other additives constitute the remaining share. Dhanya also has capabilities across powders and granules and works with microbiology- and HPLC-based products.
A key differentiator is its emphasis on developing formulations internally. Rather than depending entirely on imported finished products, its team studies product specifications and market requirements and develops formulations through its own R&D and manufacturing ecosystem.

Quality from Laboratory to Commercial Scale
For Dhanya, manufacturing scale is closely linked with quality consistency. The company follows a structured scale-up process in which product development can progress from one kilogram to 10 kilograms, then 100 kilograms, one tonne and eventually multi-ton commercial production. Each stage provides an opportunity for the R&D and quality teams to evaluate performance and refine the manufacturing process.
This approach has become particularly important in overcoming one of the company's earliest challenges: market perceptions around domestically manufactured products. According to Madhu, competitively priced Indian products were sometimes perceived as inferior to imported alternatives. Dhanya addressed this not through pricing alone, but by consistently demonstrating product quality over time.
“Quality oversight extends across production, packaging and documentation, with managers and supervisors monitoring operations across shifts. The company also encourages transparency with customers. In the event of a quality concern, it is prepared to undertake joint analysis and allow customers to engage directly with its laboratory and technical teams,” shares Seelam Madhu Babu.
Its Hyderabad facility further brings together production equipment, fermentation expertise, laboratory infrastructure and skilled personnel across R&D, quality and manufacturing. The company's own website similarly identifies scientific formulation, strict quality control, field performance and technical support as central to its operating approach.
Turning Market Intelligence into Product Development
Animal nutrition is not static, and Dhanya's product-development approach therefore extends beyond the manufacturing floor. Its team maintains interactions with doctors, animal nutritionists and other industry professionals to understand new formulations, evolving requirements and products emerging in domestic and international markets.
When a relevant opportunity is identified, the R&D team studies specifications and works towards developing a comparable or improved solution. Raw-material selection, testing methodologies and formulation processes are treated as important variables rather than assuming that common manufacturing technology will produce identical outcomes.
This technical orientation is complemented by customer support across quality verification, production, packaging and documentation. As a direct manufacturer, Dhanya sees the ability to provide customers with both competitive economics and direct access to technical expertise as an important advantage.
Taking Dhanya from Bulk Manufacturing to a Global Market
The next phase represents a significant transition for Dhanya Bio Life Sciences. After spending much of the past decade primarily serving the market as a bulk manufacturer, the company is now investing greater attention in direct marketing and building stronger visibility for the Dhanya brand.
“Over the next four to five years, it plans to expand its existing manufacturing facility, increase production volumes and strengthen its reach across India as well as international markets. Product development will continue alongside this expansion, supported by the company's R&D, fermentation, laboratory and production capabilities,” informs Seelam Madhu Babu.
Madhu's larger ambition is to establish Dhanya as a strong Indian competitor to major Chinese manufacturers in the feed-supplement space. That aspiration builds on a decade spent developing the less visible but critical foundations of the business—formulation knowledge, manufacturing infrastructure, quality systems and technical manpower.
As Dhanya moves from being predominantly a behind-the-scenes bulk supplier to a more visible market-facing manufacturer, its focus remains straightforward: manufacture at scale without compromising consistency, develop products through science and R&D, and demonstrate that Indian animal-nutrition manufacturing can compete confidently on both quality and value.
