In the pharmaceutical industry, where precision and compliance are of paramount importance, HVAC systems play a critical role in maintaining controlled environments for manufacturing and warehousing.
With energy costs rising and sustainability targets tightening, innovative solutions like HMX’s GreenPro-certified cooling solutions are helping companies achieve operational excellence while reducing their environmental footprint.
HMX is redefining pharmaceutical HVAC by delivering scalable, energy-efficient cooling solutions that align with stringent regulatory standards and sustainability goals. Conventional air-conditioning systems are often energy-intensive, leading to high operational costs and environmental impact.
The company addresses these challenges with innovative cooling technologies that significantly reduce carbon emissions and operating expenses. Its flagship product, the IDEC (Indirect Direct Evaporative Cooling System), offers a two-stage, refrigerant-free solution that ensures optimal temperature and humidity essential for pharmaceutical applications, while delivering substantial energy and cost savings.
Tailored Solutions for Clean Pharma Environments
HMX stands out by combining high fresh air delivery, superior indoor air quality (IAQ), and reduced energy consumption. With a legacy dating back to 1998, the company has built a strong reputation for delivering customised HVAC solutions across pharmaceutical facilities from laboratories, reactor rooms and packaging zones to warehouses.
The company systems are engineered for higher efficiency, outperforming conventional systems and maximising energy savings. The energy-saving potential of HMX’s various products is significant compared to conventional HVAC systems. The company can offer up to 40 percent energy savings, depending on climatic conditions and daily operating hours.
Due to the lower connected and absorbed loads, the company’s solutions can operate with renewable energy sources such as solar and wind. This not only supports pharmaceutical companies’ sustainability strategies but also helps their bottom line.

DAMA: The Core of Efficient Cooling
Central to HMX’s cooling systems is DAMA technology a patented, modular, and scalable heat exchanger optimised for Indirect Evaporative Cooling (IEC). DAMA stands for Dry Air and Moist Air, and it provides sensible cooling without adding moisture to the supply air.
It is a cross flow, plate-type, polymer heat exchanger and ensures the system offers high energy efficiency, consuming approximately 60 percent of the energy compared to conventional air-conditioning systems.
It ensures low fouling and consistent performance, making it reliable and easy to maintain. Additionally, the system is highly scalable, allowing for flexible adaptation to different capacities and applications. Its long operational life further enhances its value, providing durable and sustainable performance over time.
Modular Machines for Seamless Expansion
HMX’s product range, spanning capacities from 500 to 200,000 CFM in a single machine, allows scalability to meet diverse capacity needs. Moreover, expanding a facility or upgrading existing systems, the company’s solutions may be integrated effortlessly without disturbing current operations.
HMX’s hybrid systems, which include features such as chilled water coils, allow control of space temperature and humidity. These hybrid solutions minimise thermal loads on the cooling coil and enhance the efficiency of existing HVAC setups, eliminating the need for costly overhauls.
Sustainability & GreenPro Certification
HMX’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its product design and certifications. A total of eight HMX products have been awarded the prestigious GreenPro Type-1 Eco label certification, qualifying as green products and validating their eco-friendly design and contribution to a Net Zero future. These certifications help pharmaceutical companies align with recognised green building standards such as LEED and support their ESG goals.
“HMX is more than an HVAC provider it is a strategic ally to pharmaceutical companies striving for regulatory compliance, energy efficiency, and sustainability. With worldwide installed base more than 120 million CFM, cooling over 20 million square feet of floor space across more than 11 countries. Our advanced IDEC system powered by patented DAMA technology, is redefining HVAC standards through innovation, reliability, and eco-conscious design,” says Prashant Bhaware, General Manager & Head (Domestic Sales), HMX.
The company is actively advancing its portfolio with innovative, IoT-enabled solutions that represent the future of HVAC. In addition to its core cooling systems, the company has diversified into wastewater and sludge management, critical areas for pharmaceutical operations. With these offerings, the company is reinforcing its commitment to smart, sustainable, and regulatory-compliant technologies that support pharmaceutical companies in achieving operational excellence.
