Alcon, the world leader in eye care, announced the commercial launch of its next-generation surgical platforms, the UNITY Vitreoretinal Cataract System (VCS) and UNITY Cataract System (CS) in India. The combined VCS console has been made available, and the single VCS cataract system (CS) will be made available in the coming months.
The UNITY platform is intended to enhance vitreoretinal and cataract surgery efficiency while facilitating improved patient outcomes. It presents several first-to-market technologies, such as UNITY 4D Phaco, HYPERVIT 30K, and the state-of-the-art UNITY Intelligent Fluidics system, which enables surgeons to work in more physiologic conditions without sacrificing efficiency.

India conducts more than 8 million cataract surgeries every year, one of the highest numbers in the world, but India has a deficiency of specialists, only one ophthalmologist per 100,000 individuals.
The challenge is solved by two-domain UNITY VCS/CS with advanced equipment like UNITY 27 Gauge Portfolio, UNITY TetraSpot, UNITY Illumination, UNITY Intelligent Sentry, UNITY Thermal Sentry, and UNITY 4D Phaco.
