Apollo Hospitals and Siemens Healthineers have announced a strategic research alliance to foster innovation in liver disease diagnostics leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and imaging, with a focus on developing AI-enabled clinical tools and quantitative ultrasound imaging solutions to enable early detection, risk stratification, and monitoring of liver disease, with a focus on Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD).

The collaboration combines Apollo’s clinical expertise and Siemens Healthineers’ advanced technology to tackle the growing burden of liver diseases, as reported in government data MASLD (previously known as NAFLD) affects 9 % to 32% of the population, commonly in people with obesity and diabetes, and substantially elevates their cardiovascular risk.

Dr. Sangita Reddy, Joint Managing Director at Apollo Hospitals, explained the collaboration as a transformative initiative in non-invasive diagnostics. “The AI-based models will be indispensable in providing early detection of fibrosis to enhance intervention and outcomes. This partnership encapsulates Apollo’s journey to embed intelligent decision systems in clinical workflows."

The agreement was built upon a Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2024, also the creation of a Master Research Agreement (MRA) formalized in March 2025. The signing of an MRA Addendum on July 23, 2025, in Hyderabad, represented an important milestone in the partnership, laying the groundwork for future collaborative research on diagnostic and interventional ultrasound imaging.
