Lupin is actively expanding its biosimilars portfolio with a target to cross USD 100 million revenue in the next three years. The company is focusing on in-licensing strategies to bring innovative products into India while strengthening its domestic pipeline. Lupin plans to leverage partnerships to access complex biologics and accelerate commercialization timelines.
Lupin CEO Vinita Gupta said, “with a couple of key launches, starting with peg-filgrastim in the second half of the ongoing fiscal, followed by ranibizumab, aflibercept in FY29 and etanercept in FY30, we are looking at biosimilars ramping up into a couple of $100 million-scale businesses in three years across these key markets (US and Europe).”

Officials from the USFDA and Andhra Pradesh’s Drug Control Administration discussed measures to enhance pharma manufacturing standards and drug quality. The discussions focused on regulatory alignment, capacity building, and strengthening compliance systems to meet global benchmarks.
Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh emphasized the need to strengthen research capabilities in pharma and biotech sectors. He highlighted the importance of innovation-driven growth and urged stakeholders to invest in R&D infrastructure and talent development.
DePuy Synthes plans to set up a Global Capability Centre in Bengaluru and hire 500 professionals. The facility will focus on digital solutions, data analytics, and R&D, which will directly enhance clinical innovation and medical device development.
Rising Ebola cases have prompted countries to tighten travel rules, with the United States introducing stricter measures for travelers from affected regions. These actions highlight growing global concern over cross-border transmission risks. Regions in Africa remain the primary risk zones, but increased international mobility raises concerns for Asia and Europe.
India has previously implemented strong Ebola prevention protocols, including airport screening, isolation facilities, and travel advisories. These measures provide a framework for rapid response if risks escalate.
Experts highlight that live-cell imaging technology is transforming cancer drug discovery by enabling real-time observation of cellular behavior. This technology allows researchers to understand drug responses more accurately and accelerate the development of targeted therapies.
“Biology is constantly moving, yet for decades we have largely studied it through static snapshots. If we want to understand why cancer cells change, adapt or resist therapy, we need technologies that allow us to observe living biology continuously rather than after the fact.
