Mankind Pharma has entered into an exclusive in-licensing and marketing agreement with China’s Chongqing Chenan Biopharmaceutical to commercialize two insulin analogs in India, strengthening its presence in the injectable diabetes segment.
The Mankind Pharma diabetes deal covers insulin degludec and a combination product containing insulin degludec, adding new therapies to its diabetes care portfolio.
The partnership comes as pharmaceutical companies increasingly use strategic licensing agreements to bring specialized therapies to Indian patients while expanding their presence across high-demand treatment segments.
The agreement with Chongqing Chenan Biopharmaceutical covers the commercialization of insulin degludec and insulin degludec as part of a combination therapy in India. Mankind Pharma said the addition of these products will further strengthen its injectable diabetes portfolio.
Insulin degludec is a long-acting insulin analog used in diabetes management. Adding the products to its portfolio gives Mankind Pharma an opportunity to broaden its offering in a segment where demand for diabetes therapies remains significant.
The company has been expanding its presence across multiple therapeutic areas, and the latest pharma licensing deal adds another specialized product category to its existing business. By bringing additional insulin-based therapies into its portfolio, Mankind Pharma can offer a broader range of options within diabetes care.
The agreement also allows the company to leverage the development and innovation capabilities of an international pharmaceutical partner while focusing on commercialization and market access in India.

Mankind Pharma said the partnership will contribute to a more comprehensive portfolio in the injectable diabetes segment. The company views the deal as part of its broader effort to expand access to advanced therapies for patients in India.
Atish Majumdar, Senior President - Sales and Marketing at Mankind Pharma, said, "The partnership reinforces the company’s focus on expanding access to advanced therapies while strengthening its presence in injectable diabetes."
The agreement also reflects Mankind Pharma’s broader strategy of using global innovation through strategic partnerships and in-licensing opportunities. Such arrangements can allow pharmaceutical companies to introduce specialized products into domestic markets without relying solely on internal product development.
For Chongqing Chenan Biopharmaceutical, the partnership provides a route to commercialize its insulin products in the Indian market through an established pharmaceutical company. For Mankind Pharma, it adds products that can complement its existing diabetes business and support further expansion in the segment.
The latest agreement, therefore, strengthens Mankind Pharma’s position in India’s diabetes care market while highlighting the growing role of cross-border pharmaceutical partnerships in expanding access to specialized therapies.
