Granules’ 2,000 Cr milestone capex fuels a clear shift toward higher-margin pharmaceuticals.
The Hyderabad company commits to this organic investment over the next three to four years to accelerate complex generics, oncology, and peptide contract development and manufacturing.
After returning to growth in FY26 following nearly three years of flat performance, Granules now enters a new growth cycle.
Its established, vertically integrated business continues to generate cash, while four engines drive expansion.
These engines are controlled substances, complex generics and early market opportunities, oncology, and peptide CDMO. The strategy moves from volume-led generics to selective higher-value products that already lift margins and widen global access.
Granules CFO Mukesh Surana outlined the precise destinations for the capital. The company directs the funds toward complex generics, oncology, peptide CDMO, US operations, manufacturing capacity, R&D infrastructure, digitalization, AI-led manufacturing excellence, and quality systems.
Chairperson and Managing Director Krishna Prasad Chigurupati emphasized that the vertically integrated core remains the cash engine. This base supports the next phase without stretching the balance sheet. The investment stays organic and measured across three to four years, matching the company’s return to growth.
Executive Director Priyanka Chigurupati highlighted the rapid rise of complex generics.
The company sharpens its first to file pipeline at the same time. It has filed two sole first to file ANDAs for generic Lumryz and generic Dyanavel. These products carry a combined US market size exceeding USD 350 million and potential 180-day exclusivity.
An oncology first to file candidate sits in the pipeline along with four to five additional first to file opportunities expected to commercialize between FY30 and FY34.

Krishna Prasad Chigurupati identified the growth drivers clearly:
These engines replace the earlier volume-led model. Peptide CDMO forms a central pillar of the differentiated strategy, positioning Granules to serve innovator customers with specialized manufacturing capabilities. Oncology adds high-value products, while complex generics and controlled substances expand the existing strengths into newer, less crowded markets.
Granules builds a more selective portfolio that prioritizes margin over pure volume. The 2,000 crore outlay strengthens manufacturing, R&D, digital tools, and quality systems so the company can scale these higher-value segments efficiently.
US operations receive dedicated focus to capture the first-to-file opportunities already filed. The company treats the vertically integrated base as the foundation and channels new capital into the four growth engines.
Complex generics have already proved the model works. Peptide CDMO and oncology now stand ready to extend that success. Granules moves into its next growth cycle with a clear roadmap, measured spending, and products that command better returns.
