Ophthalmology is becoming a stronger specialty-care focus for Lupin as the company expands its European eye-care business through VISUfarma.
Lupin announced an exclusive licensing agreement with Visus Therapeutics for YUVEZZI, a once-daily ophthalmic treatment for adult presbyopia.
The deal covers the European Union, UK, Switzerland, Norway and Iceland. It follows Lupin’s acquisition of VISUfarma in April and adds a differentiated presbyopia product to its growing ophthalmology portfolio.
The agreement could also strengthen Lupin’s European specialty-care presence as the company expands beyond established eye care categories and targets new treatment opportunities.
The latest ophthalmology deal gives Lupin’s wholly owned subsidiary VISUfarma exclusive rights to commercialize YUVEZZI across five European territories. VISUfarma will handle regulatory activities, marketing, promotion, distribution, and sales. The product contains carbachol and brimonidine tartrate ophthalmic solution at 2.75%/0.1%. It targets presbyopia in adults, a condition that affects clear near vision.
YUVEZZI recently received USFDA approval and stands as the first and only approved once-daily dual-agent eye drop for adult presbyopia, according to Lupin and Visus Therapeutics. Tenpoint Therapeutics, the parent company of Visus Therapeutics, has also submitted a UK marketing authorization application through the MHRA’s International Recognition Procedure.
The product therefore allows Lupin to take an already FDA-approved ophthalmology therapy into additional developed markets.

The financial structure adds another important dimension to Lupin’s ophthalmology expansion. VISUfarma will make a 20 million strategic investment in Visus Therapeutics through a Simple Agreement for Future Equity, or SAFE. The agreement also includes up to 55 million in regulatory and commercial milestones. Visus and Tenpoint will receive tiered royalties linked to YUVEZZI’s net sales. This takes the potential value of the agreement to 75 million, excluding future royalties.
Vinita Gupta, Chief Executive Officer, Lupin, said, “We are delighted to partner with Tenpoint Therapeutics to bring a novel ophthalmic therapy that advances our Specialty Care strategy. Building on the strategic acquisition of VISUfarma, this partnership further strengthens our vision care franchise and expands our presence across key European markets.
The agreement follows Lupin’s acquisition of VISUfarma, which it completed in April 2026. That transaction significantly expanded Lupin’s ophthalmology portfolio to more than 60 branded products. The portfolio covers dry eye, glaucoma, eyelid hygiene, blepharitis, retinal health and specialty nutraceuticals. VISUfarma also brings commercial operations across major European markets, including Italy, the UK, Spain, Germany and France.
This sequence shows Lupin using VISUfarma as a platform for adding differentiated ophthalmology products to its European business.
Lupin’s latest ophthalmology move also broadens its focus beyond established eye-care categories. YUVEZZI introduces a dedicated presbyopia treatment into its European specialty portfolio. The company now has rights across the EU, UK, Switzerland, Norway and Iceland.
Henric Bjarke, CEO of Tenpoint Therapeutics, said the partnership marks an important step toward making YUVEZZI available to millions of people with presbyopia. He also highlighted Lupin’s strong commercial operations across major European markets and VISUfarma’s longstanding eye-care presence.
For Lupin, the agreement strengthens its ophthalmology strategy through a combination of established European infrastructure and new specialty therapies.
