 Reckitt & PHFI

Highlights:-

  • Reckitt teams up with PHFI to advance health, hygiene, and sanitation initiatives in India
  • Focus on evidence-based models to improve public health outcomes
  • PHFI’s global public health expertise strengthens the collaboration’s credibility

Reckitt, the world's leading consumer health and hygiene company, is associated with the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) as a strategic partner to leverage its purpose-led initiatives in India, with key focus areas being health, hygiene, sanitation, and life skills education.

Under this collaboration, PHFI will work with Reckitt and its civil society partners to evaluate and document outreach programs in India. The insights gained will be mapped into case studies and research papers to determine best-in-class, scalable health interventions.

PHFI President Professor Sanjay Zodpey highlighted the importance of the alliance, "Our joint effort with Reckitt will build initiatives that are complementary to community health priorities, including capacity building, training interventions, and research to address public health problems, especially in sanitation and hygiene."

Reckitt South Asia Director of External Affairs and Partnerships Ravi Bhatnagar added, "At Reckitt, we believe that actions are more powerful when done in partnership." This collaboration combines PHFI's research and policy strengths with Reckitt's on-ground behavior change expertise. For good health, hygiene is first, and here, we are taking another significant step towards realizing the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047. Purposeful, authentic collaborations like this are what it will take to build a healthier, more resilient India.

PHFI has set up five Indian Institutes of Public Health and published more than 4,800 research publications, solidifying its position as a world leader in public health. This research strength will be the backbone for providing evidence-based health interventions under the partnership.

The Reckitt-PHFI partnership not only marks a new benchmark for public-private partnerships but also brings about new means of confronting India's key health challenges. Grounded in science and driven by community participation, their collective work seeks to power sustained transformation in sanitation, hygiene, and public health impact. It is more than a partnership, but a mission-oriented collaboration seeking to turn around stories, build capacities, and build a resilient public health system in India. With Reckitt and PHFI, an attempt is being made to universalize health and hygiene and make it a right, not a privilege.
