The medical devices sector in India received a major push after the (YEIDA) signed a memorandum of understanding with (MEJ) to strengthen manufacturing, technology transfer, and investment in the industry.
The agreement aims to position Uttar Pradesh as a leading medtech hub with support from Japanese companies and healthcare experts.
The partnership will focus on the upcoming Medical Device Park being developed by YEIDA near Greater Noida along the Yamuna Expressway.
The project is expected to attract Japanese medical technology firms looking to expand their presence in India. Officials said the collaboration will encourage research partnerships, startup growth, skill development, and advanced manufacturing in the healthcare industry.

Under the agreement, YEIDA will provide infrastructure support, land allocation, utilities, and policy assistance to companies investing in the region. MEJ, on the other hand, will help connect Japanese firms with opportunities in India and support the introduction of advanced medical technologies.
The move comes as India continues to reduce dependence on imported healthcare equipment and expand domestic production. Industry experts believe the partnership could improve access to high-quality medical devices while creating jobs and boosting exports from the region.
YEIDA Chief Executive Officer Rakesh Kumar Singh said, "Recognising the significant role of the healthcare devices sector in improving healthcare delivery, enhancing patient outcomes, and fostering economic growth, YEIDA and MEJ seek to establish a structured framework for collaboration."
The Medical Device Park is strategically located near the upcoming Noida International Airport, which is expected to improve logistics and global connectivity for manufacturers. Officials believe the collaboration will strengthen India-Japan ties in healthcare and create long-term growth opportunities for the medical devices sector in the country.
