The announcement was made during the foundation stone-laying ceremony of a new critical care block at Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College, Hamirpur.
The decision comes as the state pushes ahead with healthcare reforms and infrastructure upgrades. Alongside the laboratory modernization plan, Sukhu highlighted the progress of a new critical care block being developed at Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College in Hamirpur.
The facility is being built at a cost of around Rs 35 crore and is expected to become operational in early July. Once functional, the block is expected to enhance emergency and critical care services for patients in the region.
The project is part of a broader effort to improve healthcare access and strengthen medical infrastructure in the state. Better emergency care facilities, combined with upgraded diagnostics, are expected to improve treatment outcomes and reduce pressure on existing healthcare institutions.
The Chief Minister said that infrastructure upgrades alone are not enough and emphasized the need for adequate medical staff. The state government is continuing the recruitment of doctors, professors, nurses, and other healthcare workers to address shortages in medical colleges and hospitals.
The recruitment drive is expected to improve service delivery and support the operation of new healthcare facilities being developed across Himachal Pradesh.
The latest announcements reflect the government's wider strategy to modernize public healthcare services through investments in infrastructure, technology, and manpower. With new laboratories, upgraded equipment, expanded critical care facilities, and ongoing staffing efforts, the state aims to strengthen its healthcare system and improve access to quality medical services for residents.
The Rs 150 crore diagnostics investment marks one of the significant healthcare modernization initiatives announced by the Himachal Pradesh government and is expected to benefit both patients and healthcare providers in the coming years.
