Hikal Ltd., a long-term reliable partner to top global life sciences companies, has opened its state-of-the-art High Potency Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (HPAPI) Laboratory at the Integrated Innovation Centre in Pune.
This facility embodies a major turning point in Hikal’s innovation path, expanding its CDMO end-to-end capabilities and consolidating the ability to develop safely test and provide highly potent compounds to the global pharmaceutical industry.
The cGMP-compliant laboratory has avant-garde isolators that are engineered to achieve Occupational Exposure Band 5 (OEB-5) standards. It is the utmost level of containment and operational safety.
The lab-for-complex has the capability to work with oncology and specialty molecules of complex nature; as a result, the development of such components being parts of Antibody Drug Conjugates (ADCs), Peptide Drug Conjugates (PDCs), and Proteolysis Targeting Chimeras (PROTACs) is fulfilled, which is an application area of potent molecule development in the pharmaceutical sector.

The HPAPI unit adds more to the Hikal urban laboratory Pune, validation, process safety, solid-state, flow chemistry, instrumentation, and synthesis laboratory. These integrated capabilities make it feasible to move projects smoothly from early-phase studies to commercial manufacturing, thus, batch sizes ranging from milligrams to over 100 kilograms are supported in the pilot plant.
