Indian skincare is entering a new growth phase as established consumer companies move deeper into premium and science-backed beauty.
Wipro Consumer Care & Lighting’s acquisition of Dermatouch marks a major step in this direction.
Wipro will initially acquire a 60 per cent stake in the Ahmedabad-based skincare brand and take the remaining 40 per cent over three years.
The deal gives Wipro its first digital-first brand and a direct entry into India’s premium skincare segment. The transaction also highlights growing corporate interest in India’s fast-expanding dermal and specialized skincare categories.
Wipro Consumer Care has announced the Dermatouch acquisition. The company will initially purchase 60 per cent of the brand further It plans to acquire the remaining 40 per cent over the next three years. Dermatouch co-founders Anish Nagpal and Amit Purswani, along with the existing management team, will continue to operate the business.
The transaction represents Wipro’s 18th acquisition globally and its third strategic acquisition within a month. The company recently acquired Good Home and Eva from TTK Healthcare for Rs 256 crore and bought Philippines-based S Brands Consumer Care.
The Dermatouch deal differs from those transactions because it gives Wipro its first digital-first brand. Wipro said it specifically looks for digital brands that can expand into offline channels. Dermatouch already sells through its direct-to-consumer platform, online market and offline retail.

Dermatouch has built its business around science-backed and concern-focused skincare. Its portfolio covers pigmentation, acne, brightening and sun protection. Products include face washes, soaps, serums, creams, moisturizers and sunscreens.
Wipro said monthly sales stood at around 60,000 products two years ago, while the brand now sells more than 60,000 products a day. These numbers give the acquisition a clear growth rationale. Wipro can combine Dermatouch’s digital reach and product innovation with its own capabilities in R&D, distribution and brand building. That combination could help the brand expand its presence across India's premium skincare market.
The Indian skincare market currently stands at around Rs 30,000 crore, according to Wipro Consumer Care CEO Kumar Chander. He also highlighted India's relatively low per-capita skincare consumption compared with markets such as China. Wipro sees significant long-term potential in both skincare and the dermal category.
The acquisition therefore places Wipro closer to a segment where consumers increasingly seek specialized products for acne, pigmentation, sun protection and other specific concerns. Dermatouch’s positioning directly aligns with this shift toward science-backed skincare.
"Dermatouch represents an exciting opportunity for us as our first foray into digital brands. We have been clear that we would only look at digital brands. We have been clear that we would only look at digital brands that have the potential to expand offline, which Dermatouch has already proven," said , Kumar Chander, CEO, Wipro Consumer Care & Lighting.
For the broader Indian skincare industry, the deal also signals rising interest from established FMCG companies in digital-first and premium brands. Large companies can use acquisitions to enter specialized categories faster while giving emerging brands access to wider distribution and operational capabilities.
The next phase will focus on scaling Dermatouch while maintaining its existing brand proposition. Wipro can use its distribution network, R&D capabilities and consumer-brand experience to expand the business across online and offline channels.
The company’s acquisition strategy also points to continued interest in high-growth consumer categories. Wipro said it has invested more than USD 1.2 billion in acquisitions over the years and plans to continue pursuing opportunities that support growth and profitability.
For investors and industry observers, Dermatouch’s revenue growth, offline expansion and future profitability will remain important indicators. The company will also need to demonstrate that Wipro’s scale can translate into sustained growth without weakening Dermatouch’s digital-first identity.
Wipro’s Dermatouch deal marks more than an FMCG acquisition. It signals how Indian skincare is moving toward premium, specialized and science-backed products. The Rs 387.5 crore transaction gives Wipro a foothold in premium skincare while bringing a rapidly growing digital-first brand into a larger consumer platform.
With Dermatouch’s 114 per cent FY26 revenue growth and Wipro’s distribution, R&D and brand-building capabilities, the deal creates a new growth platform. It could also accelerate the broader shift toward premium and dermal skincare in India.
