Tech-led health insurance forms the core of Prudential Health India’s operating model. The company will combine an agency network with an AI-enabled direct-to-consumer platform. Customers can use digitally enabled services to select suitable health cover. They can also manage policies and access support through the platform.
The company’s digital-first model reflects its greenfield structure. Prudential Health India describes itself as a no-legacy venture designed around a modern digital insurance experience. This approach positions digital health insurance as a key component of its customer strategy. It also brings HCL’s technology capabilities into the health insurance market.
Prudential Health India will provide customers access to a network of more than 12,000 hospitals across India. The network forms a key part of its health coverage proposition. The insurer also plans to support customers across different stages of their healthcare journey. Its model combines personal advice with digital services. This creates an omnichannel insurance structure that connects physical and digital customer touchpoints.
The company also aligns its strategy with the government’s “Insurance for All by 2047” vision. Amit Dave, MD and CEO Designate of Prudential Health India, said the company wants to support customers before, during and after a health issue.
Naveen Tahilyani, Regional CEO at Prudential plc, said India holds strategic importance for the group. He pointed to rising healthcare demand and opportunities to improve customer experience through innovation.
The partnership combines Prudential’s insurance capabilities with HCL’s technology, healthcare and digital transformation expertise. This combination gives tech-led health insurance a central role in the company’s India strategy.
Prudential HCL’s entry adds a technology-focused player to India’s expanding health insurance market. Its AI-enabled platform, agency network and 12,000-plus hospital access create the foundation for a digital and omnichannel model.
The launch could increase competition around customer experience, digital services and health coverage. For the wider healthcare ecosystem, tech-led health cover could strengthen the link between insurance, technology and healthcare access.
