Nayab Singh Saini has ordered the rollout of a real-time medicine tracking system in Haryana hospitals, aiming to curb outside prescriptions and improve patient care.
The real-time medicine tracking system in Haryana hospitals will allow doctors to check medicine availability instantly, ensuring patients are treated within government facilities without extra costs.
The directive came during a high-level review meeting at the Secretariat on Monday. The Chief Minister made it clear that if any doctor prescribes medicines from outside, they must explicitly mention on the OPD slip that the medicine is unavailable in the hospital. Responsibility for enforcement has been placed on Chief Medical Officers (CMOs).

Reviewing healthcare services, Saini stressed that shortages will not be tolerated. “A robust real-time monitoring system for medicine stocks must be implemented to ensure timely replenishment.” He also directed annual empanelment of suppliers and instructed CMOs to send medicine requirements at least four days in advance.
The meeting covered medicine availability in government hospitals, equipment status, staffing, procurement, and patient care. The CM pushed for CT scan and MRI facilities in all districts. Officials confirmed upgrades in 10 districts, with work underway in the remaining 12.
He also called for improved staffing through better duty rosters and temporary hiring until specialists are appointed. Transparent and time-bound procurement processes were emphasized to avoid delays.
Focusing on patient experience, the Chief Minister directed hospitals to improve cleanliness, management, and feedback systems. The move is part of broader Haryana healthcare reforms to ensure accessible, affordable, and efficient treatment across the state.
