Mankind Pharma, in conjunction with the health professionals are creating awareness on chronic kidney disease (CKD) that affects almost 1 out of 10 people in the world.
The campaign dwells on the significance of early diagnosis because kidney disease is usually asymptomatic, and individuals can easily lose up to 90 percent of their kidney function before they manifest the effects.
This is a project under the World Kidney Day that would help create awareness among people on the importance of maintaining healthy kidneys proactively and the need to undergo regular check-ups.

Kidneys are significant in ensuring that overall health is maintained since they serve to filter the waste, stabilize fluids, control blood pressure, and aid other metabolic functions. Nonetheless, CKD is often diagnosed at a late stage because it does not show any symptoms.
Dr. Anant Kumar, the chairman of urology and renal transplant at Max Saket Complex, pointed out the need to screen patients early to delay kidney disease progression and enhance patient outcomes. Arjun Juneja, COO of Mankind Pharma, stated, “World Kidney Day serves as an important reminder that prevention and early detection are key to tackling the growing burden of kidney disease.”
The number of individuals with CKD is increasing at an alarming rate in India, where 138 million individuals have this condition, ranking the country as the second-largest worldwide. Although the number of patients that require kidney transplants is estimated at almost 200,000 every year, the number of these procedures is estimated at approximately 13,500, showing that more organ transplants and preventive treatment are of paramount importance.
