Zydus Lifesciences and SIG have introduced a major advancement in pharmaceutical packaging with a single-serve format for liquid cough and cold medication.
The launch leverages SIG’s tethered spout solution SIG StrawCap 30 Linked and Motion Servo 3.2 filling technology, delivering precise, ready-to-consume medicine in compact spouted pouches that reduce waste and simplify intake.
Abdelghany Eladib, president & general manager, India, Middle East and Africa at SIG, said, “Single-serve spouted pouches for pre-portioned pharmaceuticals, such as cough syrup, position us as frontrunners in the industry and represent a significant advancement in both patient comfort and safety.”

The innovation debuts with Zydus’ Deriphyllin CoughGo, in 5 ml and 10 ml siplets. For an industry long reliant on multi-serve bottles, the shift addresses dosing issues and product waste. These lightweight, unbreakable pouches are portable and remove the need for spoons or syringes—bringing the main keyword Zydus Lifesciences into focus as it drives packaging innovation.
At the heart of the system is SIG StrawCap 30 Linked, built for direct, mess-free consumption. It uses three times less plastic than traditional pouch caps and stays attached to reduce litter. SIG plans to pair it with SIG Terra RecShield film for full recyclability.
“With SIG Motion Servo 3.2 installed at Zydus and SIG StrawCap 30 Linked, we are transforming how liquid medications are delivered – making them easier to dose, safer to consume, and less likely to go to waste,” said Christoph Wegener, chief markets officer at SIG.
Dr. Sharvil P. Patel, managing director, Zydus Lifesciences Limited said, “Continuing with our patient-centric approaches, we are introducing Deriphyllin CoughGo in single-serve spouted pouches utilizing SIG’s advanced…helps in reducing product waste in India.”
Dhandutt Shah of SIG said the collaboration marks a strong step for India’s pharma sector, blending technology with patient wellbeing.
